As a direct result of the “Winning Hearts and Minds” programme, we recently won a contract with a major-UK based organisation. In fact, it was one of the top three contracts my company won last year. Initially, it is worth about £42 million pounds over five years, but should grow consistently.Whilst I was on part 2 of the programme with some of my managers, another part of the team presented our case for a large bid to the Chief Executive and Chief Operating Officer, who told them not to bother because it was too expensive and lacked understanding.Mark Kenealy, Sector DirectorImmediately on coming back from the course, their manager (who was also on the course) and I did a further review, asked the account team to get further information from the customer and present the case back to us. This they did, and we proceeded and we went on to win the bid. The final presentation was literally put together from the course template. They also said the final presentation was much better than the competition and covered all of their key areas.
It was probably the simplest, best and most profitable presentation I have ever been involved with; and Steve Ball (the manager mentioned above) totally agrees.
This gave us an added benefit that I wasn’t expecting when I sent my team on the course. It didn’t just improve their presentation skills, it gave the management team a common language to review not just presentations but bids. This is particularly noticeable when someone who has not been on the course tries to present to us as a team.
